Post 9 (31-10) Changes of my study programme

Imagen
I think that journalism has a lot of issues I would like to resolve.   First of all, I have to say that one of these problems is related with the faculty, specifically, with the spaces. On one hand, the students (including me) feel bad, because they don't have spaces to share with friends. I mean, all places at JGM are made of concrete and the infrastructure is only buildings. Personally, I think we need more "green areas" to make our work day a little better.  Another problem I would like to change is related with the method that the teachers use to teach. In this sense, I’m not agreeing with the academic freedom, because it doesn’t secure that the students learn with the same requirement level.   For example, I have had subjects with teachers which are very relaxed and this laxity could be appreciated in the rhythm of their classes and the requirement of the test; and, in the other hand, I have had subjects with teachers whose teaching method force you...

Post 8 (31-10) Summer Holidays

Imagen
First of all, there are many things I would like to do in this summer vacation, but above all, I think travelling with my family and going out with my friends will be the best scenario. During the last time, the trips with my family have become quite recurrent, and for this summer vacation the panorama is to visit the south of Chile, specifically, Valdivia. I think it would be a nice experience to get away a little from the hectic pace of life in Santiago and immerse yourself in the total calm offered by southern Chile. In Valdivia, my aunt lives with my cousins, so we’ve been thinking it would be a good oportunity to spend a week with them to catch up and know the town. In this place I would like to walk a lot through the beautiful landscapes that exist there, eat a lot and, above all, meet the people who lives in this part of Chile.   Back in Santiago, one of the things that I would like to do is enjoy life outdoors, so trekking in the foothills of Puente Al...

Post 7 (24-10) "The Best Party Ever"

Imagen
Although I’m not a party person, i have to say that one of the best celebration I've ever had was recently, during David's birthday, who is a friend I met the last year at the university during the “induction day”.   As we were both new in the university, we started talking, doing homework together, and quickly became friends. Unfortunately, David left the career at the end of the first semester of this year, but still, we kept in contact.   Last month, he was on birthday, and to celebrate he set up a meeting at his home in San Felipe, V region. He invited me along with Sergio (another friend of the university) and we travel to his house a Friday after class. Finally, when we arrived at the San Felipe terminal (around 6 pm), he was waiting for us and he led us to his house which was quite near there. As night fell, the guests began to arrive gradually, and during the party we shared stories, played ping pong and pool, listened music, drank soda, ate pizza an...

Post 6 (10-10) Post-Graduate Studies

Imagen
Hello everyone! When I finish my university studies, I would like to opt for a Diploma in Digital Communication.  It is a fact that more and more audiences spend their time on various digital platforms offered by the internet, as well as various social networks. It's in this sense that I believe that having a greater number of professionals in the area of communication is essential to extend our journalistic work in the digital world. The Diploma in Digital Communication is part of the postgraduate study program of the University of Chile. The curriculum offers a combination of theoretical and practical studies, oriented to the development of digital communication projects, digital content and digital media. In particular, competencies are developed for the production and management of websites and applications for mobile devices, the management of social networks and communities and the creation of digital content strategies. Since I was a child, I always fe...

Post 5 (03-10) – My Future Job

Imagen
Hi everyone! I believe that think in the future job is not easy, because you have to know your abilities, your likes, dislikes and consider other elements to take a good decision. At this moment, I’m in second grade of journalism, so there still a long way to go and a lot of experience to get yet, but I will write about the kind of job I would like to do in the future as a journalist. Since I started to study journalism I have felt a great attraction for written and radio journalism, and I believe that in the future, both may be areas in which I would like to work. But where? in a national medium? or in a local one? in a public or private institution? The truth is that I would like to get a job near my house in Puente Alto (or Pirque or San José de Maipo), specifically, in one of their municipality or local media. And if not, I would like to work in a communication department of some public institution, or NGO related to the health, prevention of accidents or disasters...
